Our Breeds

At Hops & Chops Homestead, we offer a variety of rabbit breeds, each with unique characteristics that make them suitable for different owners. We focus on New Zealand, Rex, and Mini Rex rabbits, bred for both meat and companionship.

New Zealand Rabbits

Large and hardy, New Zealand rabbits are an excellent meat breed known for their fast growth. They require ample food and space to thrive. While generally calm, their size demands confident and firm handling to ensure they feel secure and manageable.

Rex Rabbits

Famous for their velvet-like fur. Needs gentle handling — their coats are delicate.

Prone to sore hocks (foot issues) because of thinner fur on their feet. Avoid rough flooring and give soft resting mats.

Mini Rex Rabbits

Mini Rex rabbits offer the same plush fur as their larger counterparts but in a smaller package! Super popular as pets, they can be more energetic and curious. They're great for families but benefit significantly from daily handling to stay social and well-adjusted. These rabbits thrive on interaction and gentle care.
